What 2K Games Leaked Ahead of E3 2021?
As with many leaks, this one comes courtesy of Reddit. However, what gives credence to the information is the “confirmation” from Jason Schreier, a trusted industry insider who currently writes for Bloomberg. So, what were the 2K games leaked ahead of E3 2021? https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1400587141743353860/ First up is the new title from Firaxis Games. The studio known for its work on XCOM and Civilization is reportedly working on a new turn-based action game under the codename CODA. This will be based on existing Marvel property, with the source using the words “XCOM with Marvel heroes” to describe it. The second game, codenamed Volt, is a new action game that might not release within the next year or two. The source claims that the game’s logo looks awfully familiar to Fallout, describing the game as “Cthulhu meets Saints Row”. Unfortunately, the source did not know which studio was working on this unnamed title. He speculates that it could be related to the “open-world sci-fi title with supernatural elements” that Hangar13 is rumored to be working on. On top of these two brand-new IPs, the leaked 2K games also include two more titles based on existing franchises. There’s NBA 2K22, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. The next installment in 2K Games’ long-running basketball sports sim franchise is usually revealed in June and Epic Games recently gave away NBA 2K21 for free. The other is Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, which is a Borderlands spin-off title that, as the name suggests, will feature Tiny Tina heavily. Of course, despite Jason’s confirmation, this is all still speculation at this point. Until 2K Games confirms all the leaked games by an announcement or at E3 2021, we should take this information with a grain of salt. But, if it is any consolation, E3 2021 is just right around the corner, with Gearbox Software set to present on June 12.
