A ResetEra user named Simo spotted digital researcher Wendy W. Fok sharing a post of herself getting “scanned to be in Mad Max 2” at Avalanche Studios in New York. It’s been a week since Fok retweeted the image, which she referred to as taken “before times”, suggesting that the game was in the works before the pandemic. More importantly, the original image was uploaded more than five years ago, which could mean that the Mad Max sequel had somehow managed to fly under the radar for half a decade - an impossible feat in this day and age.
— WE-DESIGNS™ (@WE_DESIGNS_LLC) February 4, 2017 The most likely scenario here is that Avalanche Studios WAS working on a Mad Max sequel many years ago. It’s just that this is the first time that we heard of it from someone who was part of the game because the NDA might have expired already. If this is true, then Mad Max 2 might have been canceled already, which makes sense since Avalanche Studio is already working on Contraband, a game that will be published by Xbox Game Studios. If it’s any consolation, there’s still a chance for a Mad Max sequel. Warner Bros. is set to release Mad Max: The Wasteland in 2023 and Furiosa in 2024. A Mad Max sequel would fit just right in between these two upcoming movies. Of course, this is all just speculation. Until we hear anything about a new Mad Max game from Warner Bros., it’s best to take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. In other news, all signs currently point towards a September release for Hogwarts Legacy. Unfortunately, while both Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy are on track to be released this year, it’s becoming clear that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be delayed to 2023.
