“Missing features” might be the downfall of Arceus
Arceus was always going to be different from previous Pokemon games. For one, it’s arguably the first semi-open world Pokemon game in the franchise. Not to mention, it’s going to drastically change the established Pokemon formula by giving Pokemon a chance to defend themselves in the wild and even sneak up on unwitting players. But, while most Pokemon fans welcome these changes, we don’t think that the potential exclusions detailed in the leak will sit too well with gamers. According to Riddler_Khu on Twitter, a user that has proven themselves to be a reliable source of Pokemon information, Arceus will not have several standard Pokemon features. For example, Arceus will not let Pokemon hold items. The game is also going to take away certain Pokemon abilities. Even worse, Arceus will not have breeding and it will feature a new stats system that will not use IVs. Finally, players will only be able to catch Arceus once they have completed the Hisui Pokedex, which is no easy task.
- You will need to complete the Hisui Pokédex to catch Arceus, will take a long time.- New stats system; IVs still exist but aren’t used to calculate stats anymore. - No abilities, no held items, no breeding. — Centro LEAKS (@CentroLeaks) December 26, 2021 If it’s any consolation, we’re still not sure if these leaks about Arceus are true. It’s best to take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. Thankfully, fans won’t have to agonize for a long time. Arceus will release on the Nintendo Switch on January 28. Players will find out in just a few weeks to find out if Arceus is a good game or not. But, if the said features are indeed going to be missing, we’re curious as to how much of an effect their absence will have on the game’s overall experience. In other Pokemon news, Arceus just got a new 30-second ad in Japan that showcases all the fun stuff that players will finally be able to do with their Pokemon in the game. Meanwhile, a trailer released in December introduced the Diamond and Pearl clans that will play a prominent role in Arceus’ storyline.
