Following its gradual yet consistent rise from just a few days ago, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally topped the Steam sales chart, overtaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is an impressive feat considering the beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently available for a limited time, prompting everyone to download and play it.
Amidst all the chaos, Cyberpunk 2077 has somehow managed to bounce back stronger than ever. Almost two years ago, the game launched and was absolutely riddled with bugs and glitches. Now, after several massive patches, Cyberpunk 2077 has picked up some momentum. It even beat the Witcher 3 player record by hitting more than 100,000 concurrent players on September 24, 2022. The main credit, however, for the rejuvenation of Cyberpunk 2077 goes to the hit Cyberpunk: Edgerunner anime Netflix series that is canon to the game’s story. The sudden interest in Cyberpunk 2077 may be due to the anime series. However, we can expect both new and returning players to hopefully enjoy the much-improved title for some time yet, as a major expansion, Phantom Liberty, will release in 2023. Moreover, CD Projekt Red recently released an official modding tool, REDMod for Cyberpunk 2077, which further piqued player’s interest in returning to the game, bringing many in from the passionate PC modding community.
