How to get the National Dex early in Brilliant Pearl and Shining Diamond
In a nutshell, getting the National Pokedex, otherwise more commonly known as the National Dex, lets you discover and catch more Pokemon. However, because this only comes in handy once players can travel to other regions, this is an item that’s often rewarded only post-game such as after players have already defeated that particular region’s Elite Four. In the original games, players could only get the National Dex once they completed the Sinnoh Dex. However, through some data mining, players found out that there was a way to get this post-game feature after beating the first gym. All players have to do is get a friend (or a group of friends) who had already completed the Sinnoh Dex to trade them all the Pokemon they need, and that’s it. The receiving player doesn’t even have to keep the Pokemon. All they need to do is to have “seen” all the Pokemon. If you can find someone to do this for you, you can get yourself the National Dex just a few hours into the game.
The only requirements are to get to Eterna City and to have all Pokémon viewed in the Sinnoh Dex! Ty to @QStheSLAYER for bringing this up and @mattyoukhana_ for looking into the script. pic.twitter.com/SxZ7RFv0Ga — Anubis (@Sibuna_Switch) December 5, 2021 It appears that the event that triggers the rewarding of the National Dex to players is not necessarily beating the Elite Four, but completing the Sinnoh Dex. Of course, this feat is much easier said than done. This “hack” relies on finding someone or a group of people willing to trade you Pokemon you haven’t seen before. This means that the National Dex remains an elusive collectible for most gamers. The good news is that Shining Diamond and Brilliant Pearl have tons of post-game content for players to explore. In addition to completing the Sinnoh Dex, there are gym leaders to have a rematch with, legendary Pokemon to meet, and a Battle Tower to complete. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that there’s enough content in Shining Diamond and Brilliant Pearl to last gamers well until the release of Pokemon Legends Arceus.
