The actor made this revelation while speaking to Germain Lussier, a member of Gizmodo’s blog io9, during press runs for his forthcoming film Violent Night. Harbour revealed that even though he hasn’t received a script for the film, he is privy to the arc, and “The idea is really cool.” The actor stated that he has loved the characters of his fellow Thunderbolts actors Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus throughout the MCU. He also mentioned that he finds how he will develop his relationship with Florence Pugh’s character interesting and stated that what the film’s director, Jake Schreier, and the screenwriter, Eric Pearson, are trying to do is “really clever.” To that, he added “It’ll be funny. it’ll be weird, it’ll be action. And then we’re also going to drop a bomb, which is cool.” Thunderbolts is a film about a team of supervillains who do missions for the government. It is based on a Marvel Comics creation of the same name. At the moment, Marvel is keeping information about the film under lock and key. As a result, fans will find it very hard to guess what Marvel’s bomb could be. Harbour, who came to the limelight following his role as Jim Hopper in the Netflix science fiction drama series Stranger Things, has featured in several supporting roles over the years, including The Equalizer, Quantum of Solace, Brokeback Mountain, and Suicide Squad. He made his MCU debut in 2021’s Black Widow appearing as Red Guardian alongside Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff. Apart from Harbour, Thunderbolts will feature Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Yelena Belova, Winter Soldier, Taskmaster, Ghost, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine respectively. Also, following William Hurt’s demise in March, Thunderbolts will star Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. The upcoming film, Violent Night, that Harbour is promoting is a black action-comedy film slated for release on December 2. He will star as Santa Claus and help a family combat a team of mercenaries who mean them harm. By the way, this interview is not the only one Harbour has given about Thunderbolts. He recently shared his thoughts on his Red Guardian character revealing that he will love to play the character more. One more thing, Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debuted on Friday, November 11. While the film debuted at the number one position at the box office, its numbers are lower than Marvel executives expected. Thunderbolts is currently in development. If all goes to plan, it will hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
