However, December is proving to be one of the weakest months of the year for new releases. We have many games rehashed or ported to other consoles, such as Rune Factory 4 Special, Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX, and Among Us.
But that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to have fun! So check out the list of December games preview and find out how you can spend your holidays.
Solar Ash
Release Date:December 2 (PlayStation 4|5 and PC) Solar Ash is the second title from Heart Machine, responsible for the award-winning Hyper Light Drifter game. It’s as if Hyper Light Drifter had had a baby with a 3D Engine. Initially set for October, Solar Ash was one of the games postponed for December. Players will be taken into a surreal, vivid, and highly stylized world through the Ultravoid. Facing challenges with wild gravity and beautiful vistas, you will have to slay massive monsters and meet other lost souls.
Justice Chronicle
Release Date:December 3 (Xbox One/Series, and PC) KEMCO strikes again with another retro-style old-school RPG coming directly from mobile to Windows platforms. In Justice Chronicle, we play as Kline, a novice High Beast Knight. On a reconnaissance, he meets Alia on the brink of death. Kline makes a pact with the God of Death to save her, giving up his life for hers. Quite the hasty decision, hey. Together, they must face the ever-creeping darkness threatening to consume the world. Justice Chronicle gameplay boasts classic turn-based combat, a crafting system, linked skills between characters, and plenty of sidequests. Everything to please the nostalgic gamer soul in you.
Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition
Release Date:December 3 (Switch) The sequel to Disney’s magical world title, Disney Magical World 2, was initially released in the west in 2016 and is now receiving a remastered version for the Switch, titled “Enchanted Edition.” The ultra-family-friendly game lets players enjoy a variety of new adventures in six Disney-themed worlds. It will be possible to have fun with Minnie, Donald, Mickey, Goofy, Daisy, Cinderella, and many other characters. You will be able to fish, dance, collect materials and do some crafting in the boutique, go extreme surfing, and even design the menu of your café. It’s like having the Disney magic on your handheld.
Danganronpa Decadence
Release Date:December 3 (Nintendo Switch) The irreverent and murderous Danganronpa series comes to the Switch in a collection featuring its three main games: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Anniversary Edition. In addition, Danganronpa Decadence features a new title called Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, a board game and RPG style entry that looks to bring more peace and love between your favorite characters.
SpellForce 3 Reforced
Release Date:December 6 (PC) Spellforce III has won fans on the PC with its hybrid style of gameplay that mixes real-time strategy with RPG. Now, the game will have a revised and improved version coming under the name Spellforce III Reforced. The new and improved version of the game will be a free update for those who already own it, and for those who don’t have the game, it will be the only one available to buy. A console version release was also scheduled to release on the same day. However, THQ Nordic announced earlier this month that those versions have been delayed until March 2022. Unfortunately, we’re still living in a period of delays, however understandable that may be.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
Release Date:December 7 (PlayStation 4|5 and PC) Ok, now for real, and after a heartwarming announcement delay, it’s finally here! Endwalker is Square Enix’s new Final Fantasy XIV expansion and the story’s conclusion that began in A Realm Reborn. The expansion will bring heavy Final Fantasy IV references and send our Warrior of Light to the moon, where supposedly Zodiark, the primal of darkness, is sealed. Our mission now is to definitively stop the Ascian from re-enacting the Final Days. Endwalker will feature two new Jobs, the melee DPS Reaper and the healer Sage. The male version of the Viera race; new towns like Old Sharlayan and Radz-at-Han; the Myths of the Realm series of alliance raids which will reveal more about the Eorzea pantheon; and a whole lot more. It’s certainly a great time to be an FFXIV player, but let’s hope the servers can handle the massive crowd that will log in on Endwalker’s launch day. Anyone who pre-purchased the game will have early access to the expansion starting December 3.
Rune Factory 4 Special
Release Date:December 7 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC) Initially released for Nintendo 3DS and then re-released for Switch under the title Rune Factory 4 Special, now owners of non-handheld platforms will also be able to play the cutesy farm simulator on the industry. Rune Factory 4 Special arrives now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As Selphia’s new ruler, craft, harvest, grow crops, care for your animals, and take your townsfolk on perilous adventures as the supreme ruler you are. The special version features enhanced graphics, plus an extra difficulty mode and Newlywed Mode, which adds an extra to each of the 12 love options available in this journey.
Halo Infinite
Release Date:December 8 (Xbox One|Series and PC) Halo Infinite is the next game in the franchise starring Master Chief. With the promise of offering a larger world and free exploration in certain parts of the game, the game is among the most anticipated of the current generation of Microsoft. According to the franchise’s own screenwriter Jeff Easterling, gamers can consider Halo Infinite to be Halo 6. Halo Infinite takes place right after the end of Halo 5. Cortana has disappeared, and Master Chief is floating in space until he is found by a pilot, thus starting his adventure. The game FPS style remains unparallel, but with minor additions, such as the Master Chief’s Grappling Hook, which adds momentum to his movement. Halo Infinite beta is also available to play using Xbox Cloud Gaming, and it’s expected to last until the game’s full release.
Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX
Release Date:December 9 (Nintendo Switch, PC and iOS) Bringing the wildly popular monster-training game to modern hardware, Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX honors the 25th anniversary of the magical series. Players train and compete with their own monsters against other eccentric creatures. In Monster Rancher, players can raise, train, freeze, and fuse hundreds of different monster types, each with their own specific skills and abilities. Those who played the games in the old days know there was a way to summon the monsters by inserting other CDs, either from other games, music, or movies. But nowadays, the physical media has been replaced by a database. This database will allow players to look up specific CDs and generate monsters based on the chosen CD.
MONOPOLY Madness
Release Date:December 9 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC) The board game responsible for destroying friendships and families is back with a tad touch of madness. MONOPOLY Madness features shorter matches as you race with other players through the chaotic streets of Monopoly Town, gather resources, buy and upgrade properties. The cherry on top is that you can hinder your opponents by bulldozing over their buildings, really messing with their high blood pressure. Still, you need to be aware of your opponents’ traps to win the race for riches.
Vaporum: Lockdown
Release Date:December 10 (PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One) Vaporum: Lockdown is a dungeon crawler RPG set in an original steampunk setting, inspired by classics of the genre. Follow the story of Ellie Teller, a scientist struggling to survive disastrous events that have taken place in the Arx Vaporum tower. The game takes place before Vaporum, its predecessor. In Vaporum: Lockdown, you’ll encounter nasty enemies with unique strengths and attack patterns. To defeat them, you’ll have to employ a wide range of weapons, devices, upgrades, and clever tactics. The game was first released on PC in September 2020 and now arrives on consoles.
Among Us
Release Date: December 14 (PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One/Series) The Among Us phenomenon is finally arriving in consoles for you to burst your lungs out screaming SUS and backstabbing your friends remorselessly. According to producers Innersloth and Dual Wield Studio, the game will feature crossplay support to play with your friends on any console and PC, as well as physical editions for collectors. Following its success, Among Us received more content, such as a new map, a 15-player cap per match, and promises of future updates that will assign roles to crew members. Console players will have most updates ready on launch.
Aeterna Noctis
Release Date:December 15 (PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series|One, and PC) Aeterna Noctis is a hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania with an intense combat system and platforming sections that will put all your skills and reaction speed to the test. You will be able to explore the land of Aeterna in a non-linear fashion, harnessing your skills to access new levels. In the game, you take on the role of the King of Darkness as you regain your power in 16 different connected areas in an epic and original story against the Queen of Light for the throne of Aeterna. And as usual for a Metroidvania, a masterpiece soundtrack to listen to while driving, working, and showering.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach
Release Date:December 16 (PlayStation 4|5 and PC) After several delays, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach is arriving. The game carries on the frightening series in a first-person, survival horror game set in Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex. You play as Gregory, a little boy who’s trapped inside overnight. When the surprising robust Pizzaplex lockdown sequences start, you are tasked with surviving while you search for an escape route. You’ll have to abuse ninja subterfuge to sneak your way through as you escape the Animatronics’ clutches. Use gimmicks from the scenery to call and diverge attention from your pursuers.
