During a Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview while promoting Atlanta season 3, Glover played off the question when asked more about the upcoming Lando project for Disney+. Specifically, the ever-coy Glover said, “No, yeah, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom and then go away. Right now is the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on, but I just want it all to come out at the same time, so I feel like that’s what’s important.” While this isn’t a direct confirmation of Glover’s involvement in the series, it is a reveal of sorts, and if nothing else, it’s the first update on the Disney+ show after the company announced it in the latter half of 2020 alongside Andor and The Acolyte. From what we know so far, Lando’s showrunner, Justin Simien, has signed on to develop Lando. Other than that, fans have tried to fill in the gaps with speculation and guesses. For example, the prevailing theory is that the show would follow the holo diary that Lando was creating in the 2018 film, Calrissian Chronicles. This would help fill in the time in between the widely panned movie and the original Star Wars trilogy, a relatively unexplored aspect of the Star Wars mythos. If this is the case, Glover could star as Lando for the most part, with occasional flashes of Williams as a more seasoned version of one of Han Solo’s oldest friends. Of course, if both Glover and Williams are in tow, the show could cover a vast period of over three decades as Lando settled down and became a family man before adopting a life of solitude following a tragedy in between the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. We could see Glover and Williams working in tandem to help give justice to the beloved side character. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about Lando soon enough at the Star Wars Celebration in May. In the meantime, fans can look forward to a handful of Star Wars projects that are coming soon, the chief of which, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney recently delayed from May 25 to May 27.
