IO Interactive has announced in a blog post that Hitman 3 will be renamed Hitman: World of Assassination. It will be the only modern Hitman title available for purchase as the first two games have been removed from storefronts. World of Assassination will cost $70 which seems a bit steep. However, the repackaged game will also include the previous two titles. Hitman 1 Game of the Year Access Pass and Hitman 2 Standard Access Pass will be part of the World of Assassination base game. “Essentially, these two changes will mean that all new players and existing HITMAN 3 owners will have the same base content ownership,” IO said about the rebranding of Hitman 3. “There will be no more confusion over which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem Legacy packs or import locations, etc. We’re done with that.” For an additional $30, players can avail of the World of Assassination Deluxe pack. The premium edition will include the DLC included in the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, the Hitman 3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection, and the Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass. Gamers who already own Hitman 3 do not need to pay anything extra for the additional content of the repackaged game. Players who own some of the content available can purchase the individual pieces separately. Owners of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 can continue to access their games even after it is pulled out from the storefronts. “We’re absolutely certain that these changes will have a hugely positive effect on existing players and new players alike,” IO Interactive said in a statement. “For many players, it will mean free-content to enjoy. For others, it will mean significantly cheaper DLC prices. For new players, who probably aren’t reading this here, they’ll have a much better experience buying Hitman games.” The statement adds, “The changes have also been made with the Freelancer game mode in mind, where being able to easily access all locations from across the World of Assassination is paramount to maximizing your enjoyment. Between now and when these changes come into effect, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the reactions and questions that arise.” The changes to Hitman 3 will take effect on the 26th.
