The fast-rising star made this revelation during a recent interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin at The Governors Awards. The biopic, 48 Hours in Vegas, will chronicle the former NBA star’s infamous Las Vegas trip with Chicago Bulls’ assistant manager during the 1998 NBA Finals between his former team, Chicago Bulls, and the Utah Jazz. The film will cover the events of that weekend; hence, its title. Rodman was one of the NBA’s most controversial figures with many memorable moments in his life on and off the basketball court. One of these moments is a 1996 book signing for his memoir, Bad As I Wanna Be, which was held in New York City two years before he went to Vegas. The former NBA star stole the headlines when he showed up at the event dressed in full drag: a white wedding dress complete with a veil. { “@context”: “https://schema.org”, “@type”: “VideoObject”, “name”: “Jonathan Majors might go full drag in the Dennis Rodman biopic”, “description”: “The actor has revealed there is a possibility he will recreate Dennis Rodman’s drag moment in the NBA star’s biopic.”, “thumbnailUrl”: [ “https://i.ytimg.com/vi/kK1esJt6J4M/maxresdefault.jpg” ], “uploadDate”: “2022-11-26”, “duration”: “PT33S”, “contentUrl”: “https://youtube.com/shorts/kK1esJt6J4M", “embedUrl”: “https://youtube.com/shorts/kK1esJt6J4M" } During the interview, Malkin asked Majors if he will recreate the drag look in the biopic. In response, Majors laughed and stated he will if it is required of him. However, he stopped short of making any promises and stated that the decision is up to the director. Given that the film is expected to only cover the two-day trip, it is uncertain if it will feature the book signing event. However, the film will feature flashbacks of certain moments in Rodman’s life so there is a possibility they will incorporate the book signing. Majors was also asked if he’d talked to Rodman about the role to which he responded that he hadn’t. However, he mentioned he’ll do it soon to do the character justice. In his words, “I know where he’s at and I think he’s open-hearted and wants to collaborate. I want to do justice by him.” Rodman is a former American professional basketball player who is famous for his defensive and rebounding qualities. Nicknamed the Worm, the basketball star has played for the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers. He has also won numerous awards, ranging from NBA All-Star and NBA rebounding champion to NBA Defensive Player of the Year, NBA champion, IBM Award, and All-NBA Third Team. Asides from Majors casting as Rodman, we don’t know much about the Lionsgate biopic, including other members of the cast, release date, and plot. However, Rodman is confirmed as one of the film’s executive producers alongside Will Allegra and Ari Lubet. In addition, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood will serve as producers. Finally, Jordan VanDina will pen the film’s script. Apart from his basketball career, Rodman also had a stint as a professional wrestler. He was a member of the nWo, which consisted of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash. During his wrestling career, he was the first wrestler to win the Celebrity Championship Wrestling tournament. Rodman is famous for his colorful personality, eccentricities, tattoos, piercings, and inclination to party. Majors is a critically acclaimed actor who rose to fame in the 2019 independent feature film The Last Black Man in San Francisco. He has since starred in numerous successful films, including The Harder They Fall, Devotion, as well as the Disney+ limited series Loki and the biopic miniseries When We Rise, where he portrayed activist Ken Jones. The actor will star in the upcoming Creed 3 as the antagonist Damian Anderson opposite of Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed. Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer in October. He will also play Kang the Conqueror, the next big bad post Avengers: Endgame in the MCU with his first appearance to come in next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
