According to recent reports, Konami is back to working on new video games again. Not only that, but it’s going with its most popular IPs for the comeback. web_stories_embed url=“https://www.xfire.com/web-stories/konami-is-reportedly-working-on-new-metal-gear-solid-silent-hill-and-castlevania-games/" title=“Is Konami working on remakes of its biggest IPs?” poster=“https://www.xfire.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/konami-is-reportedly-working-on-new-games-1-1.jpg" width=“360” height=“600” align=“center”]

Is Konami back to working AAA titles again?

Konami hasn’t made new AAA titles for the better part of the past decade. The last of its most prominent releases outside of bundles, trilogies, and Pro Evolution Soccer games was Metal Gear Survive, which was released in 2018. Even before then, Konami had already started working on fewer big projects every year. Many believe that this was because of the high cost of such games, specifically 2015’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which later led to a messy divorce between Hideo Kojima and Konami. However, according to Video Game Chronicle, Konami’s restructure earlier this year has resulted in an intensified focus on reviving its biggest franchises. The same report claims that the first project that Konami is working on is a “reimagining” of the Castlevania games. Meanwhile, VGC added that Konami is also working on a Metal Gear Solid remake. But, unlike earlier rumors, the remake isn’t spearheaded by Bluepoint Games, which was recently acquired by Sony. Instead, Virtuos, who helped in the development of Horizon Zero Dawn and The Outer Worlds, is taking the lead in a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. Finally, VGC’s sources also revealed that Konami is working on several Silent Hill games at different studios. Now, before anything else, we recommend that you take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. Konami hasn’t officially announced anything. The only thing that Konami has confirmed is the Castlevania Advance Collection, which was formally announced at the September 2021 Nintendo Direct showcase. However, the rumors are in line with the leaks released earlier this year. For example, a leaker claimed that a Metal Gear Remake is currently in development back in April. There was also that Tom Olsen ruse that went on for weeks earlier this year, which happened right around the same time that Konami announced its newest game and that it had decided to skip E3 2021 because it had multiple projects currently in the works back then. There has also been talks that Bloober Team is working on a Silent Hill game and that the PS5-exclusive game, Abandoned, is a Metal Gear game, among others. With that said, all fans can do for now is to speculate. If it’s any consolation, VGC did claim that Konami intends to announce these rumored projects sometime next year. So, maybe, just maybe, Konami is waiting for E3 2022 to steal the spotlight.
