So far, numerous industry insiders and reputable leakers have shown proof that the Nintendo Switch Pro does indeed exist. Among the many alleged specifications of the upcoming Nintendo Switch upgrade include 4K resolution gaming when docked and a 720p resolution when used as a handheld console. While there’s been no official announcement as of yet, the similarities in the numerous reports suggest that the Nintendo Switch Pro is indeed coming. However, unlike the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro, this mid-generation Switch upgrade will be a bit different.

NateDrake Is At It Again

NateDrake, once again, is proving himself to be a reliable source of unconfirmed information. After divulging information about Starfield last month, the ResetEra user claims that the Nintendo Switch Pro won’t just be an upgrade. In a way, it’ll be a different console as well. This is because it will have exclusive games. To be more specific, the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro exclusives will not come from Nintendo. Instead, it will be from third-party partners. This suggests that these games won’t technically be exclusive only to the Nintendo Switch Pro. Rather, they’ll be multiplatform games that are difficult if not impossible to run on the standard Nintendo Switch console. As is with any leak though, we’ll have to take this information with a grain of salt. After all, Nintendo has yet to confirm its existence. In some ways, they’ve even gone on to deny that it is in development let alone production. Of course, the only way for us to know the truth is to wait. According to the most recent leaks, the Nintendo Switch Pro will enter full production later this summer to prepare it to launch once the holiday season comes around. If these leaks are indeed true, then it is possible Nintendo will announce the Switch Pro at E3 2021.

Nintendo Pulls Off Another 3DS Scenario

If it’s any consolation, Nintendo has gone on to say that the Switch isn’t anywhere near its lifecycle just yet. This means that it makes no sense for them to alienate their fans. Not to mention, releasing games exclusive only to the rumored Switch Pro would damage their reputation, something that they’ve worked so hard to regain with the Switch and its highly-acclaimed line of exclusive titles. The possible worst-case scenario here would be that it would end up being like the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS saw a new version of the console release roughly around 4 years after it first launched. Although most games were compatible with both versions of the console, some were exclusive only to the new 3DS consoles manufactured post-2014. Once again, we’d like to remind you not to take this information as truth. Hopefully, Nintendo decides to illuminate us interested fans and audiences and officially confirm or deny the existence of Switch’s mid-generation update.
