Fast forward to 2018 and Narcos: Mexico would premiere to give audiences another set of protagonists and antagonists to cheer and root for with a story that centered around the Mexican drug trade as well as DEA agent Kiki Camarena and Guadalajara Cartel head Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo. After two successful seasons, Narcos: Mexico is set to end with a third one. The best part is that Narcos: Mexico’s final season is going to premiere sooner than you think.
What do we know about Narcos: Mexico Season 3 so far?
From what we know of so far, the third season of the show will jump forward in time and take audiences to the bustling drug world of the 1990s. With the Mexican cartels thriving due to the global popularity of illegal substances, there’s more money to go around. However, this also opens up the drug trade to more competition. Judging from the trailer, it appears that a new set of cartel kingpins are going to find themselves at each other’s throats. The ten-episode season will introduce new cast members such as Luis Gerardo Méndez as Victor Tapia, a police officer with a morbid fascination for brutal killings; Alberto Guerra as Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, a dangerous drug track differ; and finally, Luisa Rubino as Andrea Nuñez, a young journalist who quickly finds herself out of her depths after trying to expose the corruption going on in Mexico. The show will also feature a set of familiar faces, including Scoot McNairy as Walt Breslin, Alejandro Edda as El Chapo, and José María Yazpik as Amado Carrillo Fuentes. Fan favourite Wagner Moura is also set to reprise his role as Pablo Escobar with Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio set to guest star in Season 3 as a young cartel hitman. Unfortunately, despite receiving plenty of praise from critics and audiences alike for his performance in the first two seasons, Diego Luna will not reprise his role as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in Season 3. With that said, Narcos: Mexico’s final season is set to premiere on November 5. Netflix has yet to confirm if it’s working on a new spin-off of the series.
