Among its most popular franchises are Far Cry and Splinter Cell. Although the latter hasn’t seen a new title released in quite some time, we are getting a new animated series on Netflix, along with two that are based on Far Cry. Scroll down below to find out more about Netflix’s multiple upcoming Ubisoft animated series.
What Ubisoft Animated Series Are in the Works?
Netflix definitely saved the best for last with its first-ever Geeked Week celebration. After revealing numerous animated series’ and shows over the course of the entire week, on June 11, Netflix dropped a huge Ubisoft-sized bomb. It confirmed that multiple Ubisoft animated series are in the works and are coming to the streaming platform. Perhaps the biggest one is Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. If it sounds familiar, it’s because it will be based on Far Cry 3’s highly successful standalone expansion, Blood Dragon. It won’t necessarily follow the same story though. Rather, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix will be a six-episode original animated series that will feature “alter egos of Ubisoft characters in a deep homage to the early 90s”. We don’t exactly know what Ubisoft means, but we do know that it’s definitely something to look forward to. Castlevania’s Adi Shankar has been tapped as the creator and executive producer with Bobbypills serving as the animation studio.
— Netflix Geeked (@NetflixGeeked) June 11, 2021 In addition to Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, Ubisoft also announced that two other series will be created based on Splinter Cell and Far Cry. The former will have eight episodes for its first season. Derek Kolstad of the John Wick franchise will serve as the creator and executive producer of the series. The show will be produced by Sun Creature and Fost. Unfortunately, further details about Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry animated series were unavailable. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ubisoft planned on revealing more of it at E3 2021 on June 12, as part of its Ubisoft Forward showcase. Speaking of Far Cry, gamers will finally get a chance to return to the world of Far Cry with the release of Far Cry 6 on October 7, 2021. Netflix’s Geeked Week has turned out to be quite an eventful week-long showcase. In addition to Ubisoft’s animated series, other animated shows and live-action films based on popular franchises were also announced, including the new Castlevania spin-off featuring the son of Sypha and Trevor Belmont and the first-ever WitcherCon.
