Babieno revealed that the game has been in development since 2019 and is nearing completion. Bloober Team’s CEO made this revelation during WSE Innovation Day where he also hinted that the video game may be released earlier than expected. Babeno stated that the game’s debut is still unconfirmed and depends on Konami. However, he expressed the belief that the video game publisher will provide more information about the series to the public soon enough. In addition, Babieno announced that Konami covered the full development cost of the Silent Hill 2 remake. He also mentioned that Bloober Team is already being paid for the next development stages. In his words, “Bloober Team is already earning money, we are already at the stage where we receive funds for each subsequent milestone, and of course, we have a margin on it. However, yes, we will also participate in the event of success – we will be its direct beneficiaries.” Babieno further revealed that both Konami and Bloober Team look forward to the game’s success especially as the internal research suggests it will sell “at least several million units." There have been many rumors that the Bloober Team is working on a remake of the much-loved Silent Hill 2. As a result, the news that it has been in development since 2019 will not catch many by surprise. Nevertheless, it is highly welcome news to fans of the horror game series many of whom will be hoping it is released sooner than later. The original Silent Hill 2 is a 2001 survival game that was published by Konami and developed by Team Silent, a development team within Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET). This team was in charge of developing the first four Silent Hill titles between 1999 and 2004. Silent Hill 2 was released for the PlayStation 2. Silent Hill 2 focuses on James Sunderland, a widower who attempts to rescue his long-believed-dead wife Mary after he receives a letter from her stating that she waits for him at their special place in Silent Hill town. The game’s narrative was inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment novel, published in 1866. The game received critical acclaim and many consider it to be one of the greatest horror games of all time. The last Silent Hill game, P.T. (short for “playable teaser”) debuted eight years ago. P.T. is a psychological horror game that was designed and directed by Hideo Kojima in partnership with film director Guillermo del Toro. The game was released as an interactive teaser for Silent Hills, which was to be the ninth installment in the Silent Hill franchise. However, Silent Hills was canceled in 2015 and P. T. was soon removed from the PlayStation store. Many fans were disappointed with this occurrence, especially since Konami didn’t seem interested in bringing back the franchise. As a result, the recent official confirmation of the game’s development is exciting for many fans of the franchise many of whom will hope it’s the beginning of many more releases. And unless something drastic happens, that will be the case. A recent report revealed Konami is working on multiple Silent Hill games, including Silent Hill F and Silent Hill: Townfall. The publisher is also working on a film set in the Silent Hill universe. By the way, Silent Hill 2 remake will be originally released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive with the PC version coming later.
