These leaks come from a post that was published anonymously on 4Chan earlier this year, and which has now come back into the fandom discourse as the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 is nearing its end. Director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that no new characters will be added after the Pass ends, thus torpedoing this leak almost entirely - but the post did get quite a few details right, so some fans are still willing to consider it possible.
According to the leak, after Fighter Pass Vol. 2 ends Nintendo will release three other fighters as final characters for the game before wrapping up Ultimate and looking to the future of the Smash Bros franchise. This trio of last characters would include someone from the Legend of Zelda series, a non-action game Capcom character and Waluigi. The Legend of Zelda has not had Smash Bros representation added since Toon Link from Brawl, so many fans would be made happy by a newcomer. Fans have long wished for and predicted the eventual addition of Phoenix Wright to Smash Bros, which would line up well with the leak naming a Capcom character coming from a non-action game. Weaponized objections are something we’d love to see. Waluigi, a character with a massive meme-fuelled fanbase, has been one of the most often requested characters to join the Smash Bros roster. The anonymous leaker is certain that he will be added to Ultimate, and will be the true ‘final’ character closing down this era of Smash Bros history. It would definitely be a send-off for the history books. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass Vol. 2 challenger packs will all be out by the 21st of December, 2021.
