SNK, in particular, confirmed that it is working on a new Fatal Fury installment. This could very well be the Unreal Engine game that it confirmed earlier this year.

You can only imagine the excitement among fighting game fans after finding out about the all-new Fatal Fury game. After all, the last Fatal Fury game came out in 1999, which itself was a huge experiment that brought a bunch of new faces and a redesigned Terry Bogard. Unfortunately, SNK dashed the hopes of fans in an instant after showing only a single piece of art for the new Fatal Fury game. It’s been a long time coming for Terry and other Fatal Fury characters. The cast of Fatal Fury have been favorites in the countless other games that they’ve appeared in, including Super Smash Bros. and The King of Fighters for Girls. It only makes sense for SNK to go back to one of their proven fighting game franchises. But, without a release date and even a proper trailer, we can only assume that the next Fatal Fury project is still very early in its development.

If it’s any consolation, the Fatal Fury art featured the signature of Aki “Tonko” Senno. The long-time SNK artist has lent her creative talents to several SNK games such as Last Blade, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, and Metal Gear. Tonko’s involvement suggests that SNK’s latest project will look beautiful.
