What are the free PS Plus game for August 2021?
Earlier this year, Sony broke its usual cycle by announcing Oddworld: Soulstorm roughly around a month ahead of its release on the PlayStation Plus for PS5 owners. Now, Sony is doing it again. The only difference this time around is that the reveal comes a little over three weeks in advance. In case you missed it, Sony just held a State of Play showcase with Arkane Studios’ upcoming PS5-exclusive FPS shooter, Deathloop, as its main highlight. However, a new gameplay trailer for Deathloop wasn’t the only thing that was revealed at the event. Sony also confirmed that Hunter’s Arena: Legends will be one of the three free PS Plus games for August. According to Sony, those with an active PlayStation Plus subscription can start claiming Hunter’s Arena: Legends starting August 3, through until September 6. With the announcement, Sony also confirmed that Hunter’s Arena: Legends will be launching on August 3. Hunter’s Arena: Legends is a 30-player PvE and PvP battle royale game that has been in Early Access on Steam since July 2020. It was in closed beta just a couple of months ago, so an August release date makes sense. Also, the free game will be available for both PS4 and PS5 subscribers, similar to what happened with Worms Rumble last year. Speaking of Worms Rumble, Hunter’s Arena: Legends might count as the free PS5 PS Plus game for PS5 owners this August. Because of this, PS Plus subscribers can expect to get two more games in August, which should be revealed in two to three weeks.
What are the other PS Plus games for August 2021?
As we’ve already mentioned earlier, Hunter’s Arena: Legends recently held a closed beta on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Those who got in were able to catch a glimpse of how the game will play like. However, a closed beta product isn’t its final representation. The developers should have made improvements since. Now that it’s confirmed as a free PS Plus game for August 2021, more players will get a chance to see if Hunter’s Arena: Legends is worth playing or not. The reveal of Hunter’s Arena: Legends as a free PS Plus game for August 2021 does spell bad news for those hoping to see Godfall become available as a free PS Plus title at launch as well. Of course, Sony could still include Godfall for its August 2021 free games for PS Plus. We just don’t think that it will happen. Hunter’s Arena: Legends seems to have close ties with the PlayStation brand and it’s a brand-new game as well. It just doesn’t seem like Sony to make two new titles available for free to PS Plus subscribers. Then again, we could be wrong. Godfall is in desperate need of a new lease on life. A release on the PS4 could help, but it would help more if it was a free game for PS Plus subscribers this August. In the meantime, PS Plus subscribers can keep themselves busy with the July 2021 lineup.
