GSC feels delaying STALKER 2 is the right decision

It’s been a long time coming for STALKER 2. The game was first announced back in 2010 and was initially set to be released in 2012. Due to a series of unfortunate events, this never happened. The game would lay dormant for years with GSC falling off the map until 2018 when the studio announced that development on the long-awaited STALKER sequel had started. From there, it would take another three years until E3 2021 for anyone to hear more about STALKER 2. After the initial reveal, fans were already expecting GSC to be ready to drop STALKER 2 on April 28, but this is not the case. According to GSC’s lengthy statement, the studio needs the added development time to fulfill its “vision and achieve the desired state of the game.” GSC describes their lofty ambitions for STALKER 2, describing it as “the biggest project in the history of GSC” and that a game of this magnitude “requires thorough testing and polishing.” GSC ends the statement by saying that it is “convinced that development should take as long as necessary.” TLDR; STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl isn’t going to be ready until December 8. The news of the delay continues the string of bad news surrounding GSC and STALKER 2. Earlier this year, GSC was met with controversy following its announcement to hold auctions for STALKER 2 NFTs. GSC later backed out after the public backlash. It remains to be seen if GSC will go for a hat trick in the months leading up to STALKER 2’s new release date. Speaking of, GSC confirmed that the studio is excited to share new information about the game throughout the year. If we’re lucky, we might just see a gameplay trailer for STALKER 2 or two on or before E3 2022 later this year.
