Is the Arcadegeddon PS4 version official?
Illfonic’s first solo-published title is a far cry from its previous games. Instead of using established IPs, Arcadegeddon is an all-original cartoony shooter that looks a lot like Fortnite but with the mechanics of Borderlands. The game is described as an “ever-evolving cooperative multiplayer shooter” that has players exploring “multiple biomes, mini games, find hidden chests, and defeat numerous enemies and bosses.” With that said, Illfonic is promoting Arcadegeddon as a PS5 exclusive title. However, according to the Taiwan Ratings Board, this is far from the case. Of course, this isn’t the first time that a PS5 exclusive game is getting a PS4 version. Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that it was going to backport Godfall to the PS4. Coincidentally, the official announcement came several months after a ratings board leaked the Godfall PS4 version. Several other titles believed to be exclusive to the PS5 are also getting a PS4 release as well. The most prominent examples of these are Gran Turismo 7 and God of War: Ragnarok. In the lead-up to the PS5’s launch, Sony was clearly marketing both titles as PS5 exclusives. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, Sony decided otherwise. Gran Turismo 7 and God of War: Ragnarok are now both slated to release in 2022. Speaking of PS5 exclusives getting backported to the PS4, hawkeyed fans spotted the PS4 version Demon’s Souls inside the PlayStation database back in June. Ultimately, a PS4 version of Arcadegeddon isn’t a bad idea. It doesn’t appear to be a graphically-intensive game. Not to mention, it’s a multiplayer title. It could use the boost in player base by releasing both the PS4 and the PS5. But, because this is not confirmed information, we recommend that you wait for an official announcement from Illfonic about the PS4 version of Arcadegeddon.
