When you consider that the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 added more meat and length to each game’s stories compared to the original versions, there’s genuine concern that next year’s remake of Resident Evil 4 will make an already long game even longer. As it turns out, this isn’t the case. According to a PC Gamer interview with Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the Resident Evil 4 remake will be “about the same length” as the PS2 original. The game’s producer claims that Capcom is using feedback from the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes. Unfortunately, early previews of the Resident Evil 4 remake suggest that Capcom might have to cut huge chunks from the game to keep its length manageable. The first house, for example, is easily triple in size in the remake compared to the original. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the Resident Evil 4 remake to be larger and still maintain the same length - players don’t necessarily have to explore every nook and corner of the presumably larger setting, after all. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait for a long time to find out more about the Resident Evil 4 remake. The current-gen remake of the best Resident Evil game of all time comes out on March 24. Speaking of Resident Evil 4, Capcom confirmed that there are no plans to remake Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
