The former WWE superstar who has since become of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood just shared a video on the set of Black Adam where he and the rest of the cast, as well as crew, are seen celebrating as filming wraps up.
What’s next for Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam?
Johnson has his hands full at the moment and for the foreseeable future. Just after he finishes filming Black Adam, Johnson will help promote his upcoming film, Jungle Cruise. Speaking of, Jungle Cruise director, Jaume Collet-Serra, also joined him in Black Adam. The film will feature the titular antihero, who was formerly known as Teth-Adam when he was still a slave from Kahndaq. However, after the ancient wizard Shazam granted him powers, he overcame the proverbial and literal shackles that bound him and came to be known as Black Adam. Unfortunately, Shazam found Black Adam’s use of his newfound powers to be abusive and wrong, which is why he imprisoned Black Adam for thousands of years. As the archnemesis of Shazam and a powerhouse of a villain/anti-hero, Black Adam’s arrival in the DCEU is a big deal. The original plan was for Black Adam to appear in the 2019 DCEU film, Shazam! This was later scrapped in favor of Johnson’s solo film. Thus, we have no idea what to expect from Black Adam. There are a few things that we know for sure though, and one is that Black Adam will not be appearing in the Shazam! sequel. Another thing that the film has guaranteed is a star studded cast. In addition to Johnson, Black Adam will star the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell, all of who will appear in Black Adam as part of the Justice Society of America. With few plot details available right now, we have no idea just how the Black Adam film will go. The set photos suggest a lot of destruction, but what else? Are the Justice Society of America going to be allies or enemies of Black Adam? How will the movie paint the anti-hero in a positive light? Is it even going to bother making Black Adam a hero in his own right? These are all questions that we’ll have no choice but to sit on as we wait for more details about Black Adam to release ahead of its premiere date. Black Adam is expected to arrive in theaters on July 29, 2022.
