In the post, the company acknowledged the concerns of community members as regards the game and provided a series of updates to allay fans’ fears about the title. The company made it clear the game hasn’t been canceled and is currently in development with no plans for other remakes apart from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Additionally, Ubisoft revealed there’s currently no release date for the title. In its words “At the moment, a new release date has not been set, we will provide new information on that front when we are ready.” The lack of a release date prompted Ubisoft to cancel existing pre-orders and make refunds where applicable. However, the release also stated that “Pre-orders may reopen once a new release date for the game has been announced.” Ubisoft originally announced a remake of the 2003 title in 2020 and planned to release it the following January, in 2021. The game’s description reads: The game’s reveal trailer was badly received by fans many of whom criticized the graphics. At the time of the reveal, the game was in development for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One as well as PC. However, given the fact that Sony and Microsoft have since released the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, it’s almost certain the details will change. Unfortunately, Ubisoft failed to release the game in time and subjected it to several delays. Earlier this year, Ubisoft moved the project from Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal. These recent developments suggest that the new studio hasn’t made much progress on the game yet. By the way, there are reports, although unconfirmed, that Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla on Steam. The latest Assassin’s Creed game is still set to get one final piece of DLC.
