Unfortunately, while we’ve known for a while that CD Projekt RED is working on a repackaged The Witcher 3, which includes the base game and all of its expansion packs and DLCs, the Polish studio has refused to give it a release date. The last we heard, The Witcher 3’s next-gen version is still coming out later this year, but a specific release date still hasn’t been available - until now. According to an anonymous video game retailer worker based in the United Kingdom, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be out on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on December 9, 2022. Specifically, the now-deleted leaked image details the store’s upcoming available pre-orders along with the release dates of each title. The list includes the updated The Witcher 3’s release date. Even if this isn’t official information, the fact that the image is no longer on the internet via the original source suggests that it’s been taken down by someone, possibly CDPR.
We learned a lot about CDPR’s plans a few weeks ago. For example, CDPR confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a full sequel albeit the first game will only have one expansion. In addition, CDPR also “revealed” that future Cyberpunk and Witcher games will have a multiplayer element. Also, CDPR is working on an original IP for the first time in the series’ history. Finally, CDPR claims that the next Witcher game is just the first of a planned trilogy. TLDR; there are going to be a lot of games from CDPR that will come out later this decade. For now, fans will just have to “settle” for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
