Riot Games does not provide the score obtained or lost in each game. However, there is a system based on the performances of the game’s players. This system allows you to evolve and regress from rank or subdivision based on performances, individual or collective, within competitive games. There is even the possibility of regression of classification because of a losing streak. On most occasions though, it will be because of poor individual performances. Check out the guide below that covers everything about how Valorant ranks work.
Rankings, Rewards and Deadlines
From the standpoint of rankings, there are eight divisions in all. In order from smallest to largest, they are: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Immortal and Radiant. With the exception of Radiant, all the others have three subdivisions that can be progressed according to the competitive performance of the player.
Iron Iron 1 Iron 2 Iron 3 Bronze Bronze 1 Bronze 2 Bronze 3 Silver Silver 1 Silver 2 Silver 3 Gold Gold 1 Gold 2 Gold 3 Platinum Platinum 1 Platinum 2 Platinum 3 Diamond Diamond 1 Diamond 2 Diamond 3 Immortal Immortal 1 Immortal 2 Immortal 3 Radiant
In terms of ranking progression, each user will be able to monitor the progress of their ranking at each Valorant Act, which lasts two months. During this period it is possible to obtain as-then unknown rewards. The actual revealing of the rewards is carried out along the same lines as in League of Legends, where they are usually announced at a time close to the end of each season. So prizes are earned according to the ranking obtained in that final period. As an example, if a player arrives at Radiant and ends the season in Diamante III, it is the last classification that will be taken into account for determining the rewards they will receive.
How Valorant Ranks Work
Overall, Valorant ranks follow the same logic as normal matches. With a maximum limit of 25 rounds and victory going to the team that reaches 13 points first. To enable ranked matches, you must complete 20 matches in Unrated mode. Then, after you have played five ranked matches, your ranking will be made available among eight ranks with three subdivisions each. Except in Radiant, which, besides being unique, cannot be reached right away. Although in the closed beta it was different, from now on it is possible to form teams with friends during the ranked matches. This is even though there might be a big difference between the skill levels. For example, if you are a user classified as Diamond, Immortal or Radiant, and you want to play with a friend who is starting the game, you would not be able to join the queue together. This is in order to protect competitive integrity and the experience of other players. A player’s ranking does not regress over time, but is hidden if they do not play competitively for a 14 day period. Your rank will instantly be displayed again after completing a competitive match. This functionality is similar to ranking display in CS:GO, for example.
MMR and Scoring System
Although the exact score for each ranking has not been revealed, there is a Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system, or Match Manager Score, just as it is used in League of Legends to define the ranking of its players. In this case, the mechanism does not provide a visible value and this has caused confusion as to how it operates. Either way, it is important to understand that winning matches is the most important factor among all the available coefficients to move up in rank or ranking. In addition, if a player puts in an excellent performance in a game, they can rise even faster. Likewise, losing matches and showing poor performance, when compared to previous results, can also result in lowering your rank. The individual performance of a player, in each game, will have a great impact on the initial assessment of their skills, but this will start to matter less as they evolve. Competitive mode will also calculate your performance in matches. For Radiant ranking, obtaining victories and performing well will be the only factors calculated, since of the accomplishment of also having reached the highest level of the competitive mode is taken into account.
