Over the past few months, there have been several leaks of the content that will be introduced in the new MW2 (2022) and Warzone 2. As new leaks continue to surface, they are corroborating some of those older leaks. A credible Call of Duty content creator, NerosCinema, released a video stating everything coming to Warzone 2 according to his sources. We’ve rounded off everything from NerosCinema, and other credible sources credited as we go.
Warzone 2
Most of the Warzone 2 information we have comes from NerosCinema’s recent video. The first information he shares is about the new Warzone 2 map. He claims that the new map is very similar to the Blackout map from Black Ops IV. This information is further supported by Tom Henderson’s tweet. Tom Henderson is another credible leaker and an investigative journalist in the realm of gaming. He is known for his solid leaks for a lot of games, including Call of Duty.
It’s going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out. — Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) May 18, 2022 Nero then claims that there is a new loadout system coming to Warzone 2. Instead of the traditional buying loadout, you will now have to complete certain objectives to get your loadout. These objectives are called “Strongholds” and also contain the introduction of AI bots that you can fight against. We recently saw the implementation of AI bots in Caldera a few months ago with the release of Season 2. You can find AI bots in underground Chemical Labs. There are a limited number of Strongholds in each game, and once a squad or a player has taken it, other players cannot access it. Furthermore, the ground loot is still going to be similar to the one we see in Warzone - weapons with a maximum of 5 attachments only. While you could have up to 8, the ground floor will only have 5 attachments. Another interesting piece of information we have concerns the perk system in Warzone 2. It seems that the pro perks are returning to MW2 (2022) and will be incorporated in Warzone 2 as well. This was a highly praised perk system in 2009’s MW2. For those of you who haven’t played MW2 (2009), pro perks give additional benefits on top of your base perk. For instance, if you chose Marathon, you would get unlimited sprint. And choosing Marathon Pro would help you mantle over objects faster. It was a multiplayer perk system and it will be very interesting to see how it works out if it is introduced in Warzone 2. TheGhostOfHope leaked this over on Twitter. TheGhostOfHope is a prominent leaker and has not disappointed us with his leaks going as far back as Black Ops Cold War.
— Hope (@TheGhostOfHope) May 18, 2022 This is a huge one. We’re going to have an armor satchel system similar to Blackout. Currently, in Warzone, you spawn in with an armor plate. However, in Warzone 2, you will have to find an armor satchel to be able to equip armor in the first place. This will make armor a lot more valuable and gunfights very interesting, to say the least. We’re potentially going to see a new inventory system that will be similar to Blackout or PUBG. This would mean a limited amount of inventory space for you to work with and hold your items. It is still not clear how it would work in terms of killstreaks and other items - whether we will have the killstreaks in their own separate slot or will they be considered as part of the whole slot. Only time will tell. But one thing is certain, the inventory system is potentially coming to Warzone 2. And, it would make sense seeing how the game is a battle royale (BR) setting, and 99% of the BR games have the same inventory outlook.
Leakers have claimed that during the playtesting session, there was no slide canceling present. The players could slide, but cancellation was not an option available. This is coming from an early build of the game and could be implemented in the game once the final build is released. But it is a possibility it won’t return as it was originally a bug that was never fixed ever since MW (2019). Could it finally be fixed? Who knows! One of the most exciting and highly requested features coming to Warzone 2 and MW2 (2022) is a brand new firing range but with exceptional improvements. According to Nero, the firing range will show damage values when you are shooting the targets. This is great for testing weapon builds and loadouts. Players won’t need to rely on guides and Youtube videos to come up with a weapon attachment setup. I’m not sure why this was not implemented back when Warzone was first released, as it makes the most sense. But, it’s better to be late than never. I hope that this feature continues to get support not just for MW2 (2022) and Warzone 2, but also the future Call of Duty games.
DMZ Mode
DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) is a highly anticipated new “third” game mode that will be introduced in MW2 (2022) alongside the single-player and multiplayer modes. It is inspired by Escape from Tarkov. Tom Henderson first reported this back in December last year.
It’s not entirely clear if that’s the codename or not yet, but DMZ is MWII’s take on Escape From Tarkov. — Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) December 10, 2021 It seems that the mode would have been in development for over 4 years by the time it releases later this year. According to Tom, the game mode has been in “some form of development since early 2018”. This was also reported back in December of 2021 in Twitter response to TheGhostOfHope.
— Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) December 29, 2021 DMZ and Warzone 2 seems to have the same map but different gameplay design. Tom Henderson confirmed this. TheGhostOfHope also stated that DMZ will include a marketplace for players to buy and even trade in-game items. Players will also be able to earn weapon blueprints, skins, and even more from DMZ. The items you earn in DMZ will certainly be usable in the regular multiplayer version and Warzone 2.
— Hope (@TheGhostOfHope) May 16, 2022 A lot of people are confused about whether the marketplace will use COD points for in-game purchases or some other form of currency. A user replied to Ghost’s tweet asking the same to which he replied “Just gonna say… we’ll see.” This is certainly something players would be anxious to know about. We don’t want another gobble gum or loot boxes controversy at our hands, now do we?
— 🥑𝓖𝓾𝓪𝓬𝓪𝓶𝓸𝓵𝓮🥑 (@dumbretard_447) May 16, 2022 DMZ would be an interesting game mode to look forward to. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint the masses as Specs Ops did during MW2019.
Multiplayer Maps & Warzone 2 POIs
Let’s talk a little about the maps in MW2 (2022). This is one of the most exciting parts of the upcoming title as it has a number of returning maps that a lot of players have grown to cherish during their childhood. Maps like Highrise, Terminal, Afgan, and Quarry are some returning maps. Yes, there is a possibility of Favela returning as well, but it is not confirmed. Although seeing how most of the maps are returning, Favela isn’t an outcast in the given list.
If you’ve played MW2 and had an addiction to quick scoping with your Intervention, you would be familiar with most of these maps. These hold a special place in a lot of players’ hearts. Tom Henderson has stated that the new Warzone 2 map will be made up of all the OG MW2 (2009) maps including the ones mentioned above. According to Tom Henderson, the following is a complete list of all the POIs in the new Warzone 2 map:
Oasis Wartorn Quarry (Quarry) Oilfield Modern City (Highrise) Caves (Afgan) Dam Marshes Harbor Sira Observatory Mountain town (possibly Favela) Graveyard Oldtown Shipwreck Fishtown Fort Airport (Terminal)
TheMW2Ghost over on Twitter, who is another credible leaker, has actually tweeted a remake of the original map image that he got through his sources.
— MW2 OG (@TheMW2Ghost) May 18, 2022 That rounds up everything we know about the upcoming MW2 and the new Warzone 2. Everything leaked that we’ve seen is from around December of 2021. As per the leaks, the game looked in a great state. Considering the state at that time, we can assume that the final game will be good once it receives final polishes. We cannot show the actual leaked footage due to obvious reasons. But, you can expect to see receive an announcement trailer during this year’s Summer Game Fest, scheduled to start on June 8, 2022. The gameplay showcase will follow shortly after.
