We know that Ryan Reynolds is returning as the titular character Deadpool. Another big announcement is that Shawn Levy, who worked with Reynolds in the Adam Project and Free Guy will be directing the third installment. One character whom fans would like to see make a comeback to the film would be Morena Baccarin, who plays Wade Wilson’s love interest Vanessa Carlysle. During a recent appearance at DragonCon, Baccarin was asked if she would be returning to Deadpool 3 by fans. She mentioned that she is not sure if she will reprise her role as it has not been mentioned to her. “You know, from your lips to God’s ears, I have no idea. They’re writing the script right now,” she mentions during the interview. Baccarin also mentions that she is always the last to know about plans for the film. “I’m usually the last to find out anything. I’m not even… I wish I had information I could give you but I really don’t.”
Is Deadpool 3 going to feature time travel?
Baccarin does mention the possibility of returning as part of the third film. The original plan of the film was for her to die in the sequel. “I think when we shot the second film, I would just die,” she mentions, adding that “After they screened it a few times they actually changed it to include this timeline thing so I think that’s a good sign that the fans want to see her again. Whether or not it happens, it’s not up to me.” Vanessa was killed at the beginning of Deadpool 2 but during the end credits scene, Deadpool was “cleaning up the timeline” by jumping to various scenes to alter the course of MCU history. In one scene, he is seen saving her character. As to whether her character returns as part of the third film, it will be up to screenwriters, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Reynolds, to decide. Reese mentioned in an interview that “we’re in the laboratory working on it with Ryan Reynolds all the time, and we’re very much entertaining ourselves.” Reese also mentioned the challenge brought by the merging of the timelines as well as the worlds created by Fox and Marvel Studios. But that should have all been sorted out when they gave Deadpool the ability to time travel. The MCU has yet to release details of Deadpool 3. We hope to see more Marvel characters join the Merc with a mouth in the next movie. If I were to vote for a character to join Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson, it would be Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk. It would be hilarious as She-Hulk and Deadpool have a similar habit of breaking the fourth wall.
