Microsoft is bringing out the big guns by allowing players to customize the color schemes of the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controllers. In a recent announcement, the company revealed that Xbox Design Lab can personalize nearly all parts of the premium controller. A new trailer video showcases the level of customization that can be done to the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 via Xbox Design Lab. Microsoft states that “players can choose from a variety of different colors to customize nearly all the external parts of the Elite Series 2 controller including the body, back case, D-pad, bumpers, triggers, thumbsticks, and buttons.” Users can also choose either the cross-shaped or faceted D-pad for the new controller. The thumbstick base and ring colors can also be personalized. Players also have the option to add a 16-character laser engraving for names, gamer tags, or custom messages to the controller. According to the Xbox Wire article, “the best part is that Elite Series 2 controllers are designed to be fully customizable with interchangeable components, so you can play with a specific setup that works best for you. Choose the right components to unleash your best game, such as metallic paddles and different shaped thumbsticks.” Players also have the option to “add a custom-designed carrying case to match your style and keep the controller and components secure and organized. Mix and match colors on different parts until settling on a design that is uniquely yours and have it shipped right to your door.” The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller features a replaceable D-pad, thumbstick customizations (classic, dome, or tall), and a set of four back paddle extensions. The premium controller also comes with a thumbstick adjustment tool. Inputs for the Elite Series 2 can be personalized to suit the playstyle of the user, and the button mapping can be adjusted with up to three custom profiles. The pro controller also features new adjustable-tension thumbsticks, shorter hair trigger locks, and a wrap-around rubberized grip. Pricing for the custom color variants of the Elite Series 2 starts at $149.99. The pro controller can be purchased with all of the Elite components and a personalized color scheme for $209.99. The Xbox Elite Series 2 customized from the Xbox Design Lab is now available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, most Western European countries, and select Southeast Asian countries.
